Machfudh is an Indonesian and he got a PhD from the Ohio State University, Ohio, USA in 1996. He has more than 25 years of experience in environmental activities such as in renewable energy particularly microhydro, forestry, forest certification, remote sensing issues (particularly in the areas of application of remote sensing and geographic information system for spatial planning and tropical forest management), reduced impact logging, forest certification, erosion, and landscape ecology. Strong skills in training and survey on community based microhydro development, application of geographic information system, database and remote sensing, spatial analysis, sustainable natural forest management projects and facilitating and organizing multi-stakeholders meetings. -National Project Manager for UNREDD-PIP, a collaboration of UNDP-Ministry of Forestry on developing UNREDD proposal and prepare for implementation of UNREDD project (21 February – 15 November 2009).
- Coordinate IMIDAP program activities, a collaboration of UNDP-DGEEU program on microhydro (Nov 2007 – 31 Dec 2008, as a Team Leader).
-Developed a final project report of the SGP-PTF, an EU-UNDP Collaboration program (June-Sept 2007).
- Developed proposals sent to the GEF on the subjects of Land Degradation (CBFM-PDFB), biodiversity (agrobiodiversity and national park buffer zone management,PDF-B), and Climate Change Adaptation (June 2006-2007, PDF-B); microhydro development (2003-2005, PDF B and Full Scale), and energy conservation (2004, PDF-B).
- Developed a proposal on the Strategic Environmental and Natural Resources Assessment (SENRA) sent to the UNDP-TRACT.
